Features
MIDI
*Playback control
-Playback
Playback buttons are also assigned to function keys, to allow
quick and
precise control of playback.
-Location
The current measure can be programmed into 10 different
location buttons
for instant positioning within a song
-Change playback speed
Change playback speed from 1/2 x to 2 x normal speed
regardless of tempo.
-Loop play
Repeat playback between loop start position and loop end
position.
-Solo and mute
You can set every track to solo and mute.
*Recording
-Real-time recording
In real-time recording, you can record your performance by
using a MIDI
keyboard, and choose from 5 recording modes:
replace, standard, overwrite, overdub and new track. You can
also punch in
and punch out.
-Step recording
Step recording is one of the fastest ways to input a note.
You set the velocity and the length of a note, and then input
a note from
either a MIDI keyboard or the onscreen keyboard. You can
extend a note with
the space key when you want to input a longer note than the
length of the
note that you set.
You can also use an onscreen keyboard or the PC keyboard for
step
recording.
-Recording in a piano roll and a score roll by using a mouse
In the piano roll, you can input notes with a mouse. You can
also do step
recording by using a MIDI keyboard.
-Step recording in the event list
The Event List shows information about notes, which are
represented as
numbers. You can input all kinds of events by using the PC
keyboard. The
Event List allows you to edit individual events per beat using
up and down
arrows.
*Editing
-Undo and Redo
You can undo mistakes up to 10 times.
-Edit while playing
You can edit MIDI data in real time while playing. All
functions for MIDI
editing are available at any moment in playing.
-Coherent operation
When you want to edit something, you only have to select a
target to edit,
and then execute editing. For example, when you edit a track,
you select
a track. When you edit a time, you select a track and range.
When you edit
a specific event, you select an event. After selecting an item
you can
then edit it.
-Various selection methods
In the piano roll and score roll, you can select an event by
using the
mouse. To select one event, click an event directly. To select
events by
range, drag time or key or value of a control from the
beginning to the
end of your selection. To add a new event to a selection,
select the event
while holding down the CTRL key. To narrow down a selected
event, select
the event while holding down the SHIFT key.
-Event filter to select
Use the event filter to select specific types of events to
edit (i.e.
Track, Channel, Position, Beat, Tick, Note, Poly ATT, Control,
Program,
After Touch, Pitch, Special and Tempo).
-Basic Editing Function
You can do eight kinds of basic editing: cut, copy, paste,
delete, insert,
merge, insert time and delete time.
-Various windows for editing
In the track window, you can edit tracks and measures. In the
piano roll,
the score roll and the event list window, you can edit events.
-Edit multiple tracks at once
All windows (piano roll, score roll and event list) can be
open
simultaneously. The piano roll and score windows can display
events from
multiple tracks in one window.
-Show only specific events
In the event list, you can limit which events are displayed by
using the
"Select with filter" command.
-Editing of control changes
In the piano roll and score roll windows, you can edit control
changes at
the bottom of the window. You can input control changes
freehand, or using
straight lines and curves, with the mouse.
-Mixer
In the mixer window, you can edit values such as volume, pan
and effect
send of a track. You can input effects and controls in real
time by sliding
faders (or using dials), while recording in real time (for
example, filter,
reverb, portamento, etc.)
All sliders/dials can be re-assigned to any midi control
numbers (e.g.
assign reverb slider/dial to any control change value from 0
to 127).
-Change events
You can change the values of events using the following
parameters:
uniform, max, min, add, scale and random. You can edit various
event
parameters (such as transpose and velocity) by using this
function.
-Quantize
You can change the timing of events using the Quantize
command. Music
Studio Standard has duration quantize, groove quantize, note
quantize and
chord quantize, as well as general quantize.
-Create control curves
You can draw control changes in the piano roll using: straight
line, curve,
sine curve, saw curve, square curve and random. All midi
control parameters
can be edited in this window, from control changes 0 to 127.
-Tempo, Meter and Key track
You can change tempo, time and key throughout a song by using
these tracks.
*Other functions
