[ Description ]
It permanently destroys data by overwriting it with random data up
to 10 times, then erases the file. When you normally delete a file
someone can undelete it and view its contents.
Labratory Test
I did a test with Norton Utilities 3.0 for Win95 (the most advanced
file recovery utility I've seen). I deleted an image with Windows
Explorer and then emptied the Windows Recycle bin. With Norton
UnErase I unerased the file. Then I viewed it with BlackBoard PicVu.
It looked perfect. This shows how easy it is to recover a deleted
file. I then tried wipe deleting the file with BlackBoard File Wipe.
I then recovered it with Norton UnErase and tried to view it. I got
a message "Invalid JPEG". BlackBoard File Wipe works to protect your
privacy.
