Sorry for bothering you all with a release containing just a nfo, but this
has to be said.
Regarding A.Vampyre.Story.PROPER-ViTALiTY
Here we go again, yet another invalid proper by ViTALiTY. We usually don't
bother responding to any of their bullshit; arguing with them is like having
a pissing contest, against the wind.
Besides, how can anyone be expected to deal with people, who has made weekly
fresh lies & propaganda an integral part of releasing?
Well, this is in fact a very nice title, and we're not going to allow them
to sully the credibility of the PC ISO games scene as a whole any more, and
neither should you.
We're all used to seeing "propers" from them using reasons that are at best
frivolous, but mostly just exagerated lies. This one adds a nice trifactor:
deception.
You see, we were right when we noted in our nfo for this game that the game
had a small bug. Securom features its own exception handler, so by removing
the protection, you also remove this. What this means, is that certain bugs
and crashes that before might have gone unnoticed, are now noticable. In
this case, the game did cause a small crash on some Vista setups upon exit,
but Securom suppressed it. Either way it's harmless.
Now, it isn't our job to fix gamebugs, so we decided to leave it. ViTALiTY
knew perfectly well that this was the case, so to support their claim they
decided to hack away at the NVidia graphics library causing the problem, and
pass it off as part of the crack, which it is not:
Code snippet from ViTALiTY's butchered cgD3D9.dll:
100099A6 /E9 99C00100 jmp cgD3D9_.10025A44 ;bug workaround code
100099AB |90 nop
100099AC |C3 retn
Information on the graphics library toolkit whose DLL they messed up:
http://developer.nvidia.com/object/cg_toolkit.html
This isn't the first time ViTALiTY has fucked with legitimate gamecode that
doesn't fit their needs, as shown in the nfo of:
19/03/2007 S.T.A.L.K.E.R_Shadow_of_Chernobyl_PROPER-HATRED
Moreover, they try to prove their claims by including a CLONE mini-image,
that they challenge people in doubt to check the original protected exe
against. All this proves is, as mentioned before, that Securom is active. If
you absolutely have to resort to including CLONE images with your releases
to prove that your cracks are legit, why not just release CLONES ?
If you are still not convinced that we're right, have a look at the demo
version of this game. It is unprotected, and exhibits the same
crash-upon-exit behavior in some Vista setups.
Now, just for amusement, let's take a look at their crack of the Securom
protected executable:
ViTALiTY: main.exe 8,824,832 bytes
And ours:
RELOADED: main.exe 117,248 bytes
This means their crack is not only not fully rebuilt, as they normally
preach as the only acceptable form of cracking, it's also over 75x the size
of ours. Funny, considering this (invalid) argument was the reason for their
last oh-noes-we-lost-again "proper". So either they didn't even bother to
check our release, because they intended to lie no matter what, or they are
just being very, very hypocritical. By their own faulty logic, our crack is
superior, 75x better infact.
To sum up:
* Our release is valid. It works as the retail would, had it been
unprotected.
* The ViTALiTY dupe release works differently due to dubious hacking of a
NVidia graphics library DLL. How can you trust hacked graphics libraries?
* The real reason that they "proper", is as usual that they lost, which
they, as usual, tried to cover up in a web of lies, bullshit and deceit.
* ViTALiTY couldn't stop lying to save their life, and they'll continue that
way. There's no reason for anyone to believe anything they have to say,
ever.
If, after this, anyone still believes in ViTALiTY and their lies, they'd
have to be almost as dumb as ViTALiTY are. Almost.
To anyone that has read this far, cheers, and enjoy the actual game.
Buy it if you like it.
