Program Basic Description:
free2fax is an easy-to-use program for Windows 95/98/NT that allows
you to send faxes free - including internationally and long distance!
free2fax uses the The Phone Company's Remote Printing Service.
Faxes are sent by e-mail (as data) from your computer to The Phone
Company, and then to a local node of The Phone Company.
The Phone Company's local node then dials up the fax machine of the
recipient and sends the fax. The Phone Company's members pay the
bill for this call.
All faxes sent this way include a coversheet. The lower 1/3 of the
coversheet may include advertising from for one of The Phone
Company's members (often an ISP).
All faxes sent using an unregistered copy of free2fax will also
include an advertising text message at the top of the fax. These can
be removed by registering this program.
We do not monitor the faxes you send. The Phone Company has also strict
rules to ensure the privacy of your messages. Therefore privacy is
assured.
The Phone Company sends you an automatically generated e-mail to
indicate if your fax was sent successfully
Program Features:
- free2fax sends plain text messages (a lot like e-mail).
- free2fax faxes can be received by a normal fax machine, or a computer
with a fax/modem card.
- free2fax queues outgoing faxes in an 'OutBox'. All outgoing Faxes can
be sent during a single brief connection to the Internet.
- free2fax keeps a record of the faxes you have sent, you for to review
later.
Program Requirement:
- PC with Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows NT
- Internet Connection
- SMTP Compliant e-mail account to send faxes (sorry not browser based
e-mail like HotMail etc.)
- E-mail client to receive fax status notifications (example: Microsoft
Outlook or Outlook Express)
