This documentation contains two parts:
(1) HOW TO USE GAMECRKR.EXE ON HALF LIFE: OPPOSING FORCE
(2) HELP WITH ONLINE MULTIPLAY AFTER INSTALLING OPPOSING FORCE
Use this GAMECRKR util to remove or replace the CD check in the
add-on Half Life: Opposing Force.
Target file to crack: OPFOR.DLL
* HOW TO USE GAMECRKR.EXE ON HALF LIFE: OPPOSING FORCE *
Unzip this util to where your OPFOR.DLL file is located.
It should be someplace like \halflife\gearbox\dlls\opfor.dll
Choose the Opposing Force "version" game you wish to crack.
Press the up/down arrow keys to highlight your version to crack.
Press the left/right arrow keys to select whether you want to
CRACK the game, UNDO a previous crack (so that everything would
be exactly like original), or set the directory PATH for the
game (if located somewhere else on the HD). The default game
path is your current DOS/Win95/Win98/WinNT directory location.
When you select CRACK or UNDO, on the screen appears a window
showing the cracking progress. If you wanted to crack a game
that is already cracked or uncrack a game that is not cracked,
an error message is displayed. If everything is OK, the "Done!"
message is displayed for the file cracked. You can select CANCEL
to get back to the game selection menu. To exit this program,
press ESC.
I play Half Life and Opposing Force therefore I crack them too.
Whenever a newer version of Opposing Force gets released, this
util shall also be updated and posted.

* HELP WITH ONLINE MULTIPLAY AFTER INSTALLING OPPOSING FORCE *
Install Half Life and patch to current v1.0.1.3. Put CD in box. Use
a NO_CD loader crack to start a local HD game. Leave the HL.EXE
original so it plays online too.
Install Opposing Force upgrade. Put CD in box. The upgrade adds a
2nd CD check in \gearbox\dlls\opfor.dll file. Hex edit, patch,
replace the opfor.dll to disable the CD check. Patch Opposing Force
from v1.0.0.0 to v1.0.0.1 and re-hex edit the file opfor.dll to kill
CD check.
Now my damned HL.EXE is v1.0.1.5 after the Opposing Force upgrade
patched my HL.EXE to this new version (?) I can play local NO_CD HD
games but NO online multiplayer games work (?) Read on if interested
or you've experienced this similar problem...
Half Life online problem solved after installing the Opposing Force
upgrade.
Half Life had played online without a CD. That too was before I
installed the add-on: Opposing Force. After that, nothing. When
lauching a game thru Gamespy it kept telling me my version of
Half Life was out-of-date and required an update. That was wierd
and required some thought/research.
No multiplay = no good.
When Opposing Force was installed it updated HL.EXE from v1.0.1.3
to v1.0.1.5 This I knew cause the NO_CD crack for Half Life v1.0.1.3
no longer worked. I replaced the new HL.EXE with the earlier v1.0.1.3
The NO_CD crack worked but the version EXE still displayed v1.0.1.5
Hence the multi server thinks you have an outdated EXE and won't
connect.
After installing Opposing Force I had payed particular attention to
the NO_CD check cracks working properly. They did. I hadn't tried to
play any online (Gamespy) multiplay before hitting the road for the
Thanksgiving holiday, after my Opposing Force was installed.
[THE BOTTOM LINE]
(1) Half Life needs to be v1.0.1.3, not v1.0.1.5
(2) Opposing Force needs a hex edit on opfor.dll to disable the 2nd
CD check.
Now to do this, only this...
So I first check Sierra and Won ftp servers and see that the latest
release patch for Half Life is v1.0.1.3 Went to Gearbox softwares
site (Opposing Force guys) and they have no mention of v1.0.1.5 It
is on the CD install but I decided it is 100% bogus! It is NOT
necessary!
Version 1.0.1.5 "will" work if and only if you use the CD-in-drive to
play the game. Both local HD and multiplay. A neat way to hassle NO_CD
cracks. So you MUST get everything back to v1.0.1.3 to allow local
no_cd HD gameplay -AND- online multiplay (both).
[Finally, THE FIX]
Insert the Half Life CD and use the "reinstall" option to get the game
back to v1.0.0.9 Then patch the game from v1.0.0.9 to v1.0.1.3
I will launch both Half Life and Opposing Force using a NO_CD crack
patch loader .EXE when done for local HD gameplay. We'll also see
about multiplayer games...
Started Half Life and it displays v1.0.1.3 again and plays with NO_CD.
Start Opposing Force and it displays v1.0.1.3 and plays with NO_CD.
Connect multi Half Life and play some Gasworks level. Connect to a
gearbox game and play an Opposing Force level for awhile.
Now the damned thing finally works 100%
