We did our best to make it as friendly and easy to use as possible, and we believe you will like it. If you cannot easily make your way through the interface, please use the help button ( ) to get help on the current BackUpTime window.
From the very beginning, BackUpTime was developed to be a convenient and, at the same time, full-featured program for making backup copies of important documents or folders.
Being very versatile, BackUpTime can also be used as a scheduler. A scheduler is a program that can run other programs or open a certain file (Windows should know what program to open the file with) at the specified time or periodically.
For example: run a disk defragmentation program every Sunday at 2:00 AM.
You can also use BackUpTime as a reminder about upcoming events. After all, BackUpTime is always running, so why not let it do more work for you? All you need to do is specify the time and the message to display.
To operate the program at its fullest potential you only need to learn 3 basic concepts, which are very easy to remember:
1. "Schedule " - is a list of actions to be performed on occurrence of an event. In other words, you give an order and the program completes it! You only need to choose what actions to perform on what events.
2. "Action" - is what the program can do: copy folders, compress them, send messages, play audio files, display messages... and so on. We are constantly adding new actions based on your requests. You can send us a request to add a desired action to the list here.
3. "Event" - is what triggers actions included in a schedule. Now only timer events are available, i.e. you specify the time that the action will be performed at.
A schedule can contain multiple actions and events. This gives the program a unique flexibility. Learn how to create a schedule here or read the Starting the work section.
By default, BackUpTime is only visible in the system tray (the area near the clock). The icon below (the gray one, 2nd from the clock) indicates that the program is idle.
