│ │
│ Support FetchDog enables help desks, software companies and other │
│ support providers to detect and solve software errors on a local or │
│ remote Windows PC, by allowing them to know the exact configuration │
│ state of that PC. │
│ │
│ The Windows operating system consists of different configuration │
│ elements like DLL files, INI files, Registry entries and others. │
│ Software errors usually occur when one of these elements is missing │
│ or has been changed. One of the greatest challenges facing support │
│ providers is to determine which element is causing the errors. Since │
│ support providers don't usually have physical access to the │
│ "misbehaved" computer, and the user on the other side is │
│ inexperienced, the challenge becomes even greater. To make it even │
│ worse, the average software application depends on hundreds of these │
│ configuration elements making it a search for a needle in a haystack. │
│ │
│ Support FetchDog answers the challenge by allowing support providers │
│ to examine a remote or local PC, and determine which configuration │
│ elements are missing or different than expected. It does that without │
│ any pre-installed software on the users' computer and with minimal │
│ effort from the supported user. The key feature of Support FetchDog │
│ is its ability to create small programs called "Configuration │
│ Fetchers". When one of these small programs runs on a users' PC, it │
│ generates a configuration report and sends it back to the support │
│ provider, for further analysis. │
│ │
│ Configuration Fetchers are highly customizable, allowing you to │
│ specify how they will interact with the user and which information │
│ they should retrieve. They can retrieve system information, file │
│ information, Registry information and more, covering the entire │
│ spectrum of configuration elements that are vulnerable to errors. │
│ You can also specify which values you expect to find on the remote │
│ computer and if the values specified do not match the values on │
│ the remote PC, warnings show up in the configuration report, allowing │
│ you to quickly identify problems. │
│ │
│ │
│ To register Support FetchDog, double-click "fdog1003beta.reg", or │
│ register using: │
