Mister PiX is a search agent for images in the World Wide Web (WWW) and
in Newsgroups. Apart from the major task, finding images, Mister PiX
serves likewise to simplify the downloading and the organizing of these
image files.
Many useful functions have been added, for example: Posting of image
series in Newsgroups with automatic creation of a posting index in ANPX
format. The display of the images with a zoom function. Viewing by
slide show or organizing through drag &drop. Mister PiX makes the work
pleasantly simple and easy.
This introduction will give you a short overview of the possibilities
of Mister PiX. For more information, please click on the appropriate
hyperlinks to the left. The help menu of Mr. PiX is context sensitive.
This means that pressing the F1 key in any part of the program will
take you directly to the corresponding help menu.
The already available (and newly downloaded) images are organized in
the main application window of Mister PiX. There are different setting
dialog boxes, with which you can change Mister PiX to suite your needs.
The slide show makes it possible to view the downloaded images in
random or selected sequence.
To find and load images please see the following areas:
1. The WWW (meta) search
Here you can find images by keying in search words. The sites found
will be summarized into a list and the images found automatically
displayed as thumbnails.
2. The WWW Scan
If you already know the address (URL) of a Web site, which contains the
images you are looking for, you can use the WWW Scan. Here all links
are searched for images beginning with the site indicated. The search
ends after an adjustable depth (levels beginning from the start page).
The scanning process can be adjusted through the different options
available. You can indicate for example, whether links which refer to
other Web sites should also be checked.
3. The Newsreader
This area discusses Newsgroups. You must first indicate your News
server in settings (an Assistent will help you) and determine, which
Newsgroups you would like to search. From these "subscribed"
Newsgroups, individual message or whole series can be downloaded. (See
also Fig. 4 - ANPX.)
Mister PiX can store several News servers.
4. ANPX
With the ANPX function it is possible to monitor all subscribed
Newsgroups. As soon as Mister PiX finds an ANPX index in these
Newsgroups, it is downloaded and displayed.
Important: As long as Mister PiX is not registered, all images are
saved in black/white only. It is worthwhile to register Mister PiX not
only to be able to display images in color, but any future updates are
free of charge to registered users as well.
