Following is a list of things you can do quickly and easily with
3D-DOCTOR:
- Visualize Images In Most File Formats: DICOM, TIFF, BMP, JPEG, Raw
Image Data and other 3D formats. Image files in various vendor
formats can be easily read using 3D-DOCTOR's universal image
configuration and input function. Export 3D rendering data in DXF, 3-D
Studio, VRML, raw triangle object, XYZ and other 3D graphics file
formats.
- Process Most Image Types: 8-bit and 16-bit gray scale, 4-Bit, 8-bit
and 24-bit color, 1-bit Black/White. Complete image type conversion
functions between.
- Powerful Display Control Functions: A 3D image can be displayed in a
plane view window to a slice, or in a montage window where all image
planes are organized side by side, or in a 3D volume rendering window,
or in a 3D surface rendering window, or all the windows are used the
same time. All the display windows can be animated. You can quickly
jump to a slice by double clicking on a pane in the montage view. You
can also change the palette to pseudo color, red, green or blue,
change the contrast to log scale or square root scale and display
image with or without pixel interpolation.
- Fully Automatic and Interactive 3D Image Segmentation: Before you
create a surface or volume rendering for a 3D image, use one of the
segmentation commands to extract object boundaries. All segmentation
commands are easy to use, with only few mouse clicks, you can generate
object boundary data needed for surface and volume rendering.
- Boundary Data Processing: Once you have extracted the boundary data
by segmentation, they can be fine tuned or manipulated with the
functions under Boundary menu, including Smooth, split object into two
new objects, delete by length, delete by image planes.
- Editing for Image, Boundaries, Point Markers, Annotation, and
Control Points for Image Registration: Object boundaries can be edited
or created interactively for rendering and quantitative analysis of
image regions. Annotations are easily created using the Annotation
Editor. Image editor allows pixel value editing, displaying and
mapping to other values.
- Automatic 3D Surface Rendering: From extracted boundary data, 3D
surface is rendered in few seconds. The viewing angle and display
settings can be adjusted interactively. No more long time waiting,
3D-DOCTOR lets you see your data in 3D quickly and easily.
- Direct 3D Volume Rendering: In addition to surface rendering, the
volume can be rendered in 3 ways: Direct object rendering by combining
object boundaries and image voxels together, Maximum Density rendering
by projecting voxels with highest intensity values and Direct Voxel
Casting.
- 3D Image Restoration by Deconvolution: 3D-DOCTOR provides two highly
efficient deconvolution methods for 3D image restoration and
reconstruction, fast nearest neighbor algorithm and iterative maximum
entropy algorithm. If you have a 3D image acquired from a device, with
which the point spread function is known, then you can easily get a
restored image with much higher quality using 3D-DOCTOR's
deconvolution functions.
- Image Measurements: area, surface area, volume, distance, profile
and image region histogram: Not only 3D-DOCTOR provides advanced
visualization functions, but also quantitative analysis and
measurement tools to get the data you need from a 3D image. By using
3D-DOCTOR's measurement tool, you can quickly measure the length, area
of a region, 3D surface area and volume, image density in a region and
the pixel histogram. All data can be easily obtained for your research
and analysis. Quantitative accuracy plus advanced display is what
3D-DOCTOR can do for you.
- Automatic Image Slice Alignment: When object movement happens
during the imaging process or images taken at different times, image
slices may not be aligned properly and this can affect the accuracy of
image analysis. The Image/Auto Alignment command uses maximum
likelihood algorithm to align image slices accurately across the
stack.
- 3D Image Registration, Auto Image Alignment and Fusion: Easily
register two images that are related by specifying 4 or more control
points in 3D-DOCTOR. Once a pair of images are registered, you can
create an image fusion by combining the two images in all different
methods supported, including add (+), subtract (-), And, OR, XOR,
transparent, Max, Min and etc. If you have two images from a single
source, for example, a CT image and MRI image for the same patient,
using the registration and fusion will create a brand new image with
information you could never visualize before. All can be done by few
simple commands.
- Image Processing Functions: image enhancement, contrast adjustment,
background removal, image combination, image mosaic, resample image,
linear feature extraction, pattern recognition, segmentation,
classification.
- 3DBasic scripting support makes it easy to combine 3D-DOCTOR
functions for complicated batch mode processing and software
customization. 3DBasic is easy to learn because it uses standard
Basic-like syntax and provides full support for flow control and
different types of variables.
