█ ██ What began as a historical revival for Esquire has developed, ██ █
█ ██ after nine years and the contributions of three typeface ██ █
█ ██ designers, into one of our most avowedly contemporary type ██ █
█ ██ families. Mercury answers the call for a smart, quick, and ██ █
█ ██ articulate typeface, one which is uniquely suited to the ██ █
█ ██ demands of editorial typography. ██ █

█ ██ In 1999, H&FJ was asked to expand Mercury into a family of ██ █
█ ██ text faces for newsprint ù one of the most demanding ██ █
█ ██ environments a typeface can encounter. Designer Tobias ██ █
█ ██ Frere-Jones brought his experience with newspapers to the ██ █
█ ██ project, and began a six-year program of development and ██ █
█ ██ testing to produce Mercury Text, a high-performance family of ██ █
