Xpress-Mosel
Xpress-Mosel is a modeling and solving environment and language,
supported by Xpress-Optimizer. It can be run using (a) Xpress-IVE,
the Windows visual development environment, (b) Mosel console, the
command prompt interface, or (c) Mosel libraries embedded within your
own application, using a C or other programming interface.

Xpress-Mosel replaces the previous mp-model based modeling products,
including mp-model itself, XMSL and EMOSL. This CD includes a
utility 'mod2mos' which enables you to translate mp-model style model
and data files into the new format used by Mosel. Please refer to
the mod2mos User Guide included within the product documentation on
this CD.
Xpress-IVE
Xpress-IVE is the Windows visual development environment for
Xpress-Mosel and Xpress-Optimizer.
Examples for Xpress-IVE and Xpress-Mosel are available for download

Xpress-IVE replaces the previous mp-model based development
environment, Visual Xpress. This CD includes a utility 'mod2mos'
which enables you to translate mp-model style model and data files
into the new format used by Mosel. Please refer to the mod2mos User
Guide included within the product documentation on this CD.
Xpress-Optimizer and Xpress-BCL
The Xpress-Optimizer is the principal component of the Xpress-MP
software suite and is included in all licences. It implements the
advanced optimization algorithms that actually solve your problem
instances, enabling you to solve linear programming (LP) problems,
mixed integer programming (MIP) problems, quadratic programming (QP)
problems, and mixed integer quadratic programming (MIQP) problems.
Note that the class and size of problems able to be solved depends on
the Optimizer algorithm add-ons and problem capacity options
selected.
Problem instances may be loaded into the Optimizer directly, or
through Xpress-Mosel or Xpress-BCL which offer higher level modeling
interfaces. If problems are loaded directly, the Optimizer can be
used through the Xpress-IVE visual development environment, as an
embeddable library (DLL) with very rich functionality, or as a
console executable with a text-driven interface.
Xpress SLP
The established Xpress-Optimizer algorithms solve linear and mixed
integer problems. SLP stands for Sequential Linear Programming, which
is a method of solving a wider class of problems, called non-linear
optimization problems. Xpress-SLP is a new addition to the Dash
product range utilizing this technique.
Nonlinear problems differ from linear problems. They are more complex
and consequently more difficult to solve. Compared to linear problems
of the same size, nonlinear problems take much longer to solve, if
they can be solved at all.
Historically, many problems that are initially nonlinear have been
necessarily simplified because LP methods have been reliable and
capable of solving very large problems for some time now. With the
advent of an SLP code that is reliable and capable of solving large
problems, a whole new class of problems and, in many cases, the real
problem, rather than the simplified problem, can be solved.
Problems with a non-linear objective function and non-linear
constraints may be solved using the Xpress-SLP algorithm. Mixed
integer non-linear programming (MINLP) problems require the
Xpress-MISLP algorithm.
