There are some big issues with the scene releases of this game.
They number three.
1)
The DELIGHT crack on this is not built correctly. On Win 9x systems,
which are fully supported by the game itself, their crack will crash
upon launch. The game itself will launch perfectly fine on Win 9x in
trial mode, if you do NOT use their crack. A proper crack will also run
perfectly on Win 9x.
FYI, if you unpack the compressed EXE that DELIGHT made, you can see why
it is crashing. "shangrila.exe is linked to missing export
KERNEL32.DLL:RestoreLastError." That is an API which is only present in
the Win NT line of kernels and not used by the game. Thus, reason #1
for our claims of a BAD CRACK.
2)
The DELIGHT crack doesn't even work at all in any Windows OS. Observe:
"Crash in shangrila.exe at Offset 0005f9a3."
That is, unless you do one of the following two things.
a) Set the "Start in:" location of the game shortcut to your installed
directory. It is blank upon installation.
b) Run the game EXE from a DOS box (which basically does the same as
the above, setting the "current dir" to the install dir).
The original unmodified game EXE does not have this problem. Thus?
We submit reason #2 for our claims of a BAD CRACK.
3)
After using our 'fix', their crack does work on Win XP and it probably
will run on Win 2000 too. We still bet that under some configurations
it will also crash. Such as on different Service Packs of XP, different
languages of Windows, or even Future Windows Operating Systems.
And yes, this is a CRACK PROBLEM; it is not a game problem nor is it a
developer problem.
Reason #3 concludes.
Summation?
If DELIGHT is reading this, they should understand something.
Somewhere between 50-90% of all their Zylom Games cracks are completely
broken. Some will not run under any situation at all, except perhaps on
the cracker's own computer.
And we know exactly why...
There are many correct ways to crack and many poor amateurish ways to
crack. Regardless of the fact that more people these days have sold out
and are using M$'s shitty Win XP, it does not mean you can make cracks
in an amateurish way such that they are linked to specific Windows versions
or to specific language editions of Windows. I run Win 98, and I do not
want to use that lame-ass Windows XP. I expect the scene to produce
properly reversed and properly re-constructed cracks.
Most of these *bad crack* issues are coming from programs that use
executable packers, encryptors, compressors, or protectors which require
you to unpack and re-construct what you think might have been the original
executable before having been packed. If your release does not work on
the operating systems that the developer fully supports, then is it not the
right (or even the duty) of a competing group to create a fully working
one? We think the answer is: Yes.
And this is what QUALITY is all about. The scene used to value this term.
We still do.
Expect a WORKING or PROPER of this game? well, maybe...
You see, we try to be mainly a "dox group". It does not mean we can
not crack (ie: go check the relatively high number of proper/working cracks
that we have done), but our group is usually too busy with dox to have time
to work on cracks (just look at the large number of releases we do every
month). However, when we get annoyed enough, we do make a working/proper
crack when other groups have failed. And yah, we get all egotistical and
yell and bitch at the other groups. Complaining about a lack of ~quality~
and braggin about how 'great' we at TNT are. So it goes overboard
sometimes. But, if you can show us that we have ever (EVER) been wrong in
our claims, well then, we're all ears and we await your criticism...

0day Unlockers, Cheat Codes, & Trainers:
Seeing as how many users do NOT have 0day/ access older than 6 months, we
will continue releasing Unlockers/Cheat Codes/SaveGame Editors/Trainers
(which we will refer to by using the term '0day-dox') for updated versions of
0day-section game releases.
The oddity about this is that even if older 0day-dox still work perfectly on
the new game versions, we will still put out a new set of 0day-dox
specifically tagged for the new game version. The new 0day-dox will also be
tested to make sure they work properly for a new game version, even if they
are 100% the same files as a previous version's dox.
We use a "6-month Minor Update rule" so as not to flood the hell out of the
scene. This means that we will wait until 6 months (calendar time) from the
PRE date of the previous 0day-dox. By 'calendar time', an example is that 6
months after January 02 2005 will be July 02 2005. Six months, not 180 days,
to avoid archaic calculations. After that time, we will wait AGAIN for a new
version of the game. We will NOT use new game versions that came out during
the 6 month waiting period. When a brand new game version is PRE-released
after the 6 months of waiting, we will release new 0day-dox for it as needed.
Of course, MU rules do not affect Major Version updates, such as when a
program goes from v3.92 to v4.00. We always make new dox for Major Version
changes, regardless of the amount of time (even if 3.92 came out 1 day ago).
