1) Install the game by making the biggest install possible. Update it with shkpatch.exe to version 2.03 final. Use Unsafedisc program included in the package to remove safedisc protection. Try both of the testme.exe's and remove the corrupted one. Now rename testme.exe (the one that works) to shock2.exe. Remove the cd and run the game - "Please insert the CD into the CD drive". In Softice (CTRL+D) put breakpoint on getdrivetypea (bpx getdrivetypea), quit Softice (CTRL+D) and press OK. Softice pops up again, you press F12 and write down the address of the location of getdrivetypea routine - 5408b5. Make a copy of shock2.exe and open it with W32Dasm. Click on GOTO then GOTO CODE LOCATION (in W32dasm menu) and write 5408b5. Click ok and you are at the start of getdrivetypea routine.

2) The cracking technique you will use here is to return to the CALL's above and above until you reach a suitable location to crack the game. Go to 00540886 and take a look, then again to the CALL at 005407FB (forget for the second one at 00540846), then up again to 00540654 - not good location for cracking so go up again at 00416581. At last you see a good looking place to apply your crack.

3) Note the offset of the call 540630 (00540630 is the same). It is 15981 (00015981 but you have to remove all 0s for easy writing). Now open shock2.exe with hiew, F4, F5 - write 15981, F3 - write 9090909090 to completely remove E8AAA01200 then go a line below to 750B and rewrite 75 with EB (JMP). F9 - update, Esc - exit. That's all.
