WinFortunes is a 'Quote-Of-The-Day' program. Those of you, who have
worked on a UNIX/Linux computer may have seen the fortunes program.
It is a small utility that shows a random phrase or quotation each
time it is run. WinFortunes is an implementation of the same idea for
the Windows platform. It is somewhat similar to the Tip Of The Day
that Windows and some applications can show each time they are run.
The difference is that WinFortunes offers a greater variety of topics
- from humorous quotes to Star Trek phrases. You can add more data
files to the program or even write your own files. The number of the
phrases included in the program is so big, that it is unlikely you to
see one and the same phrase twice, but you can download more data
files, convert a data file from the Linux fortune program or write
your own fortune file. WinFortunes is intended to be run from the
StartUp folder of Windows - every time Windows loads. WinFortunes
will greet you with a random quote trom the thousands in its database
every time you start Windows.
