FabFilter Volcano is a versatile filter plug-in for Windows and
Mac OS X with state-of-the-art filter technology and endless
modulation and tweaking possibilities.
Multimode filters
Two independent multimode filters provide low-pass, high-pass,
and band-pass responses with 12/24/48 dB/octave slopes.
Filter characteristics
Both filters feature seven different high-quality filter
characteristics that define the unique sound and overdrive of
the filter. They range from smooth filters with moderate
overdrive to raw, self-oscillating over-the-top madness! In
combination with the response and slope settings, FabFilter
Volcano offers up to 63 different filter types.
Stereo panning
With the panning setting on both filters, you can adjust the
filter balance on the left and right audio channels, which
creates stereo effects without phase problems.
Modulation options
The frequency, peak, and panning settings can be modulated in
any way imaginable with the two MIDI triggered LFOs and the
MIDI/Audio triggered envelope generator. The LFOs have
triangle and square wave forms and can be synchronized to the
host tempo in normal, dotted, or triplets mode.
Interactive filter display
Tweak the filters with FabFilter Volcano's interactive filter
display that shows both filter curves and lets you drag them
around. You can adjust them separately or both at the same
time. The user interface is easy to use with large knobs that
can be dragged up and down as well as turned around for
precise adjustments.
MIDI learn
FabFilter Volcano works with any MIDI keyboard or controller.
Within minutes, you can associate each of Volcano's parameters
with any MIDI controller number, just by turning knobs in the
user interface and on the controller.
Smart Parameter Interpolation
Changes to any of FabFilter Volcano's parameters are
interpolated by smart algorithms, ensuring both responsiveness
and smooth transitions. There are no annoying digital clicks
and zipper effects, and even MIDI controller changes are
handled perfectly smooth.
Platform-independent presets
FabFilter Volcano comes with a standard set of dozens of great
presets and enables you to create and save your own presets.
You can share your sounds with other users and the preset
files are the same on Windows and Mac OS X.
Sample accuracy and high sample rates
Naturally, the FabFilter Volcano plug-in handles all parameter
changes at sample accuracy and it can be used with arbitrary
sample rates. All parameters are fully automatable within the
plug-in host or with MIDI controller messages. Altivec and SSE
optimization ensures that FabFilter Volcano uses as little
processing time as possible without compromising sound
quality.
For Windows and Mac OS X
FabFilter Volcano is available for both Windows (VST) and Mac
OS X (Audio Units and VST). FabFilter Volcano is compatible
with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and Windows XP/2000/98/Me/2003.

Improved filters to use less CPU and cause less CPU spikes on
Intel processors.
Added envelope retrigger option.
Added parameter value display and Shift-drag knob fine
tuning.
Fixed bug that caused a crash when saving a preset outside the
preset library (for example on the desktop).
Fixed license verification problems when running on Receptor.
Changed the OS X installers to install the plug-in in the
global Library plug-in folder instead of the users Library
plug-in folder. When installing this new version, the old
version will be deleted from the user library.
The plugin now uses VST version 2.4 and AudioUnits version
1.4.3.
This version is fully backwards-compatible with earlier
versions and should load songs and presets written by the
older version without any problems.
