│
│ Mountain 3D is a landscape generator allowing creation and
│ modification of mountains or other landscapes. The result can be seen
│ under a certain angle and light, and desired colors.
│
│ Random generation, based on fractal technical give numerous kinds of
│ landscape, with profile more or less sharp or eroded, and elevation
│ more or less high according to parameters. One can thus save a shape
│ and later the relief can be distorted by general elevation, while
│ improving its definition (mesh degree), and changing profile and erosion.
│
│ Trees have their own fractal method (see Trees models . )
│
│
│ After creation, the landscapes can be distorted by elevation or digging
│ around a point
│
│ or a line drawn on the screen.
│ Rivers and their valleys can be placed. Only spring is pacedá: the valley
│ is automatically dug
│ Cliffs an terraces can be added.
│
│ It is possible to smooth portions or get rough portions of the landscape.
│
│ Partial sections of the ground can be regenerated in fractals.
│
│ Several landscapes may be represented and seen under different
│ angles. This views can be framed, zoomed, distorted, and the user can
│ adjust the view angle and light angle, with possibility to compute cast
│ shadows.
│
│
│ Ground look can be also customized: sea level, grass, rock and snow
│ levels can be easily controlled, with different kinds of trees, generated
│ in 3D fractal. Contrast and colors can also be controlled. The sky is
│ created by fractal method (plasma) an the weather (sun, mist, reflection
│ in water) can be simulated.
│
│ The mountain storage is done on description files, allowing seeing them
│ later (view parameters and relief description), associated with the
│ picture itself (Bitmap file *.BMP).
│
│
│ Real landscapes can be loaded in Mountain 3D by means of bitmap
│ files representing a map with elevations coded with colors. A real
│ landscape example is provided with the package (San Franciscoá:
│ æSanfran.bmpÆ file).
│
│ The produced image can be printed, with title and comments, directly on
│ a color graphical printer.
│
│ The result image is the bitmap file, BMP format, and can be later
│ reprocessed by other applications, to retouch the picture or doing PAO
│ tasks, for example.
│
│ Several landscapes may be represented and seen under different
│ angles. Each mountain or view can be selected by clicking inside
│ corresponding window, or by window menu, and owns adjustment
│ parameters, that can be easily modified by dialog boxes.
