True to its name, this program gives you a number of ways to control how your
child uses the computer. For instance, you can restrict access to games or
other applications to a certain amount of time per day, or set the PC to
automatically shut down after a certain hour. If you're concerned about your
child's Web-surfing activities, you can block sites that contain certain
off-limits words.Monitoring PC usage in your absence won't be a problem, as
Child Control 2004 can send reports via e-mail. The application is decently
protected against young computer geniuses. Although kids will be able to see
the utility via the Start menu, they must have the master password to disable
it. For added protection, Child Control 2004 can disable the Task Manager,
along with other Windows' system functions. Our main gripe was with the
interface, which lacks polish but still won't confuse most parents. All told,
this program makes a nice pick for keeping an eye on
youngsters' computer doings.
