Full Associativity
Surfware now offers associativity throughout their manufacturing software.
This includes their 2 through 5-axis machining, turning and wire EDM
products. Machining parameters are associative to the geometry. When any
changes are made to the geometry, tool or cut information the system can
easily and efficiently regenerate the toolpath. SURFCAM's associativity
extends throughout the system, even to its advanced hole processing
technology. The comparatively simple task of moving hole geometry after the
system has created toolpath for it is made even easier as SURFCAM allows the
user to regenerate the toolpath at the hole's new location. SURFCAM is also
associative to solid models imported from SURFCAM Solids or Solidworks«. The
system recognizes changes made to the solid model, automatically alerts the
user that the model has changed and provides regeneration options.
Advanced Finishing
SURFCAM 3D Offset Finishing calculates the toolpath motion based on the
partÆs surface, conforming the tool passes parallel to the part, creating
more uniform toolpath. This results in a constant cusp height and smoother
finish across the entire model that requires less polishing. This process
also reduces overall cycle time since the cutter chip loads are consistent
and therefore the speeds and feeds can be greatly increased.
Flat Surface Finishing automatically identifies the flat surfaces within a
model and generates toolpath that completely removes any cusps remaining
from a previous finishing operation. This significantly reduces or can even
eliminate the need to hand-polish these areas.
Faster Programming and Processing
SURFCAMÆs chamfer-milling is a dedicated operation and user-interface that
utilizes specific chamfer tools for generating toolpath to break the sharp
outside-edges of a model after it has been completely machined. High
precision, production-style parts often call for an edge break within a
tolerance. Trying to achieve this manually reduces control over consistency
and quality. Having a dedicated operation for this reduces programming time
and creates more efficient toolpaths for the cutter type.
SURFCAM's O-Ring Groove Milling is a dedicated operation designed to machine
O-ring grooves that lie on a face of a part. SURFCAM now generates tool paths
to mill O-ring grooves quickly and easily, with minimal user interaction.
