The name of EQUIST comes from "EQUIvalent STeels" and its objective is to allow
the user to identify and cross-reference international steels where the known
information may be the material designation, country of origin, Werkstoff number,
national standard, composition, or a specified set of mechanical or other
properties (more than 70 fields, where these form an integral part of a standard).
The program has been constructed from information relating to over 23,000 steels,
drawn from the standards of 23 countries as well as ISO and CEN specifications.
