║ Lotus Concept Valve Train uses template driven data entry to design ║
║ cam profiles. The motion can be specified from either the cam or ║
║ valve end of the mechanism. Motion definition is via segmented ║
║ polynomials with user controlled levels of derivative definition. ║
║ On-screen results show the profile summary compared to ║
║ user-definable design limits. ║
║ ║
║ The four available mechanism templates cover the majority of ║
║ conventional valve train systems. Template types are 'Direct ║
║ Acting', 'Centre Pivot Rocker', 'Finger Follower' and 'Push Rod'. ║
║ The dynamic analysis mode enables both mechanical of hydraulic ║
║ tappets to be simulated. Single- or twin-coil mechanical spring ║
║ models are available, together with a gas spring model which ║
║ includes mass transfer and variable gas properties. ║
║ ║
║ A range of profile definition methods is available. Three standard ║
║ segmented polynomials provide solutions for typical design ║
║ including eccentricity-limited profiles and concavity limited ║
║ profiles. In addition a user-defined polynomial is available with ║
║ complete control over the number of segments and end constraints. ║
║ Each segment can have additional mid points the values for which ║
║ can also be defined in lift or any chosen derivative. ║
